Technique

Most of the pieces I create on a potter’s wheel using stoneware clay. For the desired texture, I add slip (clay with water) for a raised surface on the clay. I also carve a design into the clay or press a texture into the piece using found objects like shells or using my own handmade stamps. The pieces are set to dry, fired in a ceramic kiln, hand painted with glazes and fired again to over 2000 degrees. All pieces are food, microwave and dishwasher safe.

Wall Hangings (bottom row)
I create these wall tiles around a raised form to give it depth. The design is drawn out on wood or linoleum block and carved out. The blocks are then pressed into the clay revealing the design. The back of each wall hanging is left hollow with attached picture wire hanger for easy display.
